2020/21 Junior Cricket Registrations are Now Open!!!
Hampton Cricket Club junior cricket is affiliated with the South East Cricket Association (formerly CMCA) and the ISEC All Girls Cricket Competition
Competitive teams are fielded in three age groups - Under 12, 14 and 16. We will aim to have one U16, four U14 teams and 10-12 U12 teams (including Rookies), plus Master Blasters and Junior Blasters sessions (formerly T20 Blast and MILO In2Cricket) for younger boys and girls who are new to the game, or aren’t quite ready for hard ball cricket.
U12 teams play Saturday or Sunday morning while U14 and U16 play in Friday twilight competitions.
Our home games are played on grounds in the Hampton area with the Club's official home ground being Boss James Reserve.
Both Master Blasters and Junior Blasters are held at Boss James Reserve
To reduce the work done by our volunteers we strongly recommend you click here to register on-line. Please note, due to insurance requirements, fees are payable prior to the 1st game. Age eligibility cut-off is 1st of September. Players must be under the nominated age as of August 31st. Boys and girls between the ages of 8 – 15 on 1st September are eligible to be registered to play.
We always need extra hands to help with the early days of your child’s cricket career. If you are keen to help out as a coach, team manager, scorer, bbq cook, drink waiter, pitch sweeper, stump inserter, witches hat distributer – or just a supporter – we are keen to have you along. We will gladly pay for you to do accreditation courses to help you, but also have a heap of talented people who are more than happy to offer advice and assistance. If you have an hour to spare, I strongly recommend you complete the introduction to cricket course. It is very informative and is all done online in your own time
Junior Training Days and times
Training Days are still being finalised, but will be held at Boss James Reserve and Castlefield Reserve - unless notified by your coach/team manager
Juniors playing Senior Cricket
Juniors over the age of 14 years also have the opportunity to play turf cricket with the Club's senior teams in the Cricket Southern Bayside competition – on either a Saturday or Sunday. If you are interested in making yourself available for senior selection, please contact Glenn Finkelde via email or on 0400130737. Last year we had 5 teenagers play in our Premiership winning 1st XI, and plenty more throughout the grades as well and we want to see even more juniors playing throughout the grades this year. Even making yourself available for just a few games can help in your development
Parents playing Senior Cricket
We have plenty of opportunities for parents to play senior cricket as well. We have 6 senior sides with games on Saturday or Sunday. Skill level is varied, and experience is not a pre-requisite so if you are keen to play on a regular or fill-in basis please contact Glenn Finkelde via email or on 0400130737. A highlight the last few years has been a Father-Son side on Sunday (which last year, carried by the sons, managed a tie in the Grand Final). It is a great opportunity to get back into the game
Obviously we have a very fluid situation at the moment. We will advise dates for training, season launch, first Blaster sessions and first games as soon as we have more clarity. The goal at this stage is to have all programs commencing just after Cup Week will still allow for full programs – but we have to be advised by governing bodies, who will be advised by the health officials
