2024-25 Cricket Blast Registrations
Cricket Blast incorporates what was formerly Junior Blasters and Master Blasters into one program (but importantly still split across the same two groups). The growth in our junior program, the transition of juniors into seniors and the increase in representative players has all stemmed from the great foundation our kids get in our introductory programs.
We run sessions on Friday nights for those boys and girls who are new to the game – this will replicate the previous Junior Blaster program and is now called Friday Night Blast..
And for those girls and boys who are slightly more experienced, we run what was the Master Blaster program on a Saturday morning – and is now called Saturday Blast. For those who have done either of these programs before – the only thing that will change will be the name.
Grounds
Both programs are run up at Boss James Reserve.
The Friday night program runs from 5pm to 6pm, while the Saturday morning games start at 9am and generally run for about 1 hr 30 mins (although as the players develop the games get quicker). We also run a weekly training session for those in the Saturday program to ensure that they are getting the best grounding for their eventual move up to hard ball cricket
Relevant dates (updated):
- Saturday program (Saturday Blast) recommences Saturday 1st Feb 2024 for 5 weeks.
- Friday program (Friday Night Blast) recommences Friday 7th Feb 2024 for 4 weeks.
Volunteers – we need your assistance
We always need extra hands to help with the early days of your child’s cricket career. On Saturdays everything runs pretty smoothly but we do still need some parental assistance to make it work – generally it is a parent to umpire (which is very simple), one to score (which is also very simple) and one to make sure that each team and their members go to the right game (generally the hardest part!). If you can assist, please let us know as the games really can’t function without your help. Plus it’s honestly more fun to get involved!
On the Friday sessions with the slightly younger kids – we strongly encourage parents to also get involved and help to lead drills and support the kids. Apart from a desire to help, no specific skills are required – but we will gladly pay for you to do accreditation courses to support you, if this is of interest.
Parents playing Senior Cricket
We have plenty of opportunities for parents to play senior cricket as well. We now run seven senior sides with games on Saturdays or Sundays. Skill levels are very varied, and experience is genuinely not a pre-requisite – so if you are keen to play on a regular or fill-in basis, please contact Glenn Finkelde via email or on 0400 130 737
