Over 150 Hampton Rovers and Hampton Cricket Club members both past and present witnessed a great moment in their history on March 13 as the Wright Scarlett Pavilion at Boss James Reserve was officially opened by Bayside Mayor Felicity Frederico.

Hosted by Greg Downes, himself a President of both Clubs at different stages, the evening featured words from Jim Westhead on each of Peter “Lefty” Wright” and Don Scarlett’s achievements throughout their years of involvement with the Seahorses and Rovers respectively.

Lefty’s impact on the growth in professionalism and development of the Club, particularly during his time as President from 1974-1982 has been monumental and is a key reason the Club sits in the healthy position it does today.

With 267 games to his name, Lefty is also member of Hampton’s Hall of Fame amongst many other accolades. He is still currently heavily involved at the Club in his role as First XI Team Manager and together with his good mate Gary Nash, he also prepares Thursday evening meals for players.

Congratulations to all in the execution of what was a really fantastic evening of celebration.
