As the curtains are drawn on another very successful season of junior cricket at Hampton Cricket Club we wish to thank all players, parents, coaches, assistants and team managers for making season 2024-2025 such an enjoyable and seamless experience for the kids.

Junior Killara
The Killara Medal was established in 1975-76 to reward the outstanding team player as determined by the captains in senior elevens and the Junior Manager in junior elevens. Votes are awarded for each game on a 3-2-1 basis to recognise effort and endeavour, rather than for statistical achievements.

Junior Club Champion
The Junior Club Champion has been won by some extremely talented players. Many of these have gone on to become very capable players at the Club and several have played District 1st or 2nd XI cricket. The award has been dominated by the Ferguson brothers, Clint and Justin, who between them were successful on eight occasions, a record which is unlikely to be matched.

Congratulations also to James Birt (pictured below) who was awarded the Ted Anderson Best Junior Clubperson award for the marvelous support he continues to provide the junior program in coaching, supporting juniors in playing seniors and being an important member of the junior committee.

We also should thank the Senior Club Committee including Secretary Glenn Finklede, Coach Justin Forbes and Cricket Operations led by Ben Kelizas for the ongoing support of Junior Cricket at Hampton.

The 2024/25 season witnessed a number of significant achievements in the clubs history including:

– 28 teams being the most in the clubs history

– 400 kids participating which is the most in the clubs history and top 10 of 577 Cricket Clubs in Victoria

– 50 girls and U16 girls team for the first time

– 5 Under 16 SECA teams which as a club record

– One of only three SECA clubs to have A grade teams in U12/14/16

– 35 juniors played Senior Cricket at Hampton 

– 9 teams made finals which is the equal most in the SECA competition

– 4 teams made Grand Finals which is the most in the clubs 117 year history

– 21 players made representative cricket

Plans are already underway for next season with the goal to have U17 ISEC Sunday, U13 ISEC Sunday and U18 girls teams in addition to all the teams we had this season across SECA/ISEC and AGCC.

We wish all players and families a successful winter sports season and look forward to seeing you back for the season 2025/26.
