The Club lost one of its oldest past players and Life Members when Ray Wigley passed away on the 21st of August 2025, at the age of 92.
Ray played at Hampton CC from 1954 to 1964 and is remembered as a stalwart of the Club both on and off the field. A right arm medium pace bowler and handy lower order bat, Ray was an important member of the reforming committee of 1958/59 that led to the creation of the juniors which was the beginning of the modern Club as we now know it.
Ray is also credited with the establishment of the ‘Seahorse’ as the Club’s emblem.
After his cricketing days, Ray was a very keen golfer and highly respected member at the Victoria Golf Club.
Ray always kept in touch with the Club and regularly dropped in to watch First XI games and keep up his contacts.
