Grow out the mullet, dust off the flanno and dig the moccasins out of the cupboard. Bogan Bingo is coming to the Boss James Reserve clubrooms on Saturday 21st November, and it’s shaping up as the biggest night on the club’s social calendar this season.
Seniors, juniors’ parents, partners, social members, past players and mates: this one’s for everyone in the Hampton family who’s ready for a proper night out. Round up your team, book your tickets and get your costume sorted.

So what is Bogan Bingo?
Picture a normal game of bingo, then hand the caller a sidekick DJ. Every time a number comes out of the barrel, the DJ drops a blast of an 80s or 90s anthem that rhymes with it, and the room sings along. In between games there are gags, tributes to Aussie icons and the odd air guitar showdown. It’s part game, part show and mostly a party.
The Bogan Bingo crew have been running these nights since 2005, at work functions, festivals and club fundraisers right around the country. You don’t need to know a thing about bingo. If you can mark off a number and you know the words to at least one Jimmy Barnes song, you’re qualified.
What’s on the night
- Bingo, with a soundtrack. Several rounds hosted by the Bogan Bingo team, with prizes up for grabs.
- Raffles and games running through the night, plus lots more on the program.
- Best dressed contest. Bragging rights for the most committed bogan in the room. Teams that dress up together will be noticed.
- BYO food platter. Bring a platter to share with your group. Cheese and bikkies, party pies, sausage rolls, fairy bread: all fair game.
- Bar open all night with drinks at bar prices.
Who should come?
Senior players. Men’s and women’s sides, Saturday and Sunday: this is your team night. Bring your partners and make it a group booking. It’s a lot more fun with a table of teammates roaring every time someone nearly gets a full house.
Junior parents. You’ve done the early drop-offs, the scorebook, the canteen roster and the car-park chats. Here’s a night that’s just for you. Organise a few families from your child’s team and come down together.
Social members, past players, sponsors and friends of the club. If you’ve ever had a drink in the Boss James clubrooms, you’re welcome. Bring someone who hasn’t.
What to wear
There’s no such thing as overdressed at Bogan Bingo. A few ideas to get you started:
- Mullets (real or rented), flannelette shirts and moccasins
- Blue singlets, footy shorts and thongs
- Double denim, acid wash and anything with a band logo
- Trackie dacks, ugg boots and a scrunchie
- Crimped hair, blue eyeshadow and the brightest lycra you own

How to book
Tickets are $25 per person through TryBooking. One person can book for the whole group in a single order, so pick a team organiser and get everyone’s names in. Scan the QR code on the flyer, go to trybooking.com/DQSGE, or tap the button below.
Quick questions
Do I need to know how to play bingo?
Not at all. The hosts explain everything, and the games are quick and simple. You mark off numbers, you yell when you’ve won.
What time should I get there?
Doors open at 7pm and the first game starts at 7:30pm. Come at 7 to grab a seat with your group, get a drink and set up your platter.
What’s included in the $25?
Entry to the night and the Bogan Bingo show. Bring your own food platter. Drinks are from the bar at bar prices.
Do I have to dress up?
No, but you’ll be in the minority if you don’t. And you can’t win best dressed in your work clothes.
Who do I ask if I have a question?
Use the Contact Organiser link on the TryBooking page, or grab any committee member at training or on game day.
Captains and team managers: please drop this link in your team chats this week. A full table from every side would make it a night to remember. See you at Boss James on the 21st.
